Washington — Associated Builders and Contractors has released a new technical guide on artificial intelligence in the construction industry.
The guide offers an overview of AI applications throughout the course of a construction project, from preconstruction to building maintenance, in addition to definitions of common AI terms. Links to further resources and best practices for AI policy are also included.
ABC’s vice president of construction technology and innovation, Matt Abeles, stated in a press statement that AI has the ability to assist “contractors in completing projects on time, minimize staffing challenges, save money, and improve health and safety.”
By 2024, there will be a severe labor shortage in the construction sector of more than 500,000 workers. However, promising new technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) can help meet this need.
“We must approach AI in construction as beneficial with a balanced view that includes continuous evaluation, developing ethical guidelines, and increasing awareness about what AI can and cannot do,” said the worker who rose to the position of leadership in the sector, a younger one.
