Greenbelt, MD — Commercial motor vehicle inspectors throughout North America carried out 35,764 brake system inspections and recognized 4,295 vehicles – or 12% – with out-of-service situations through the Commercial Car Security Alliance’s annual Brake Security Week, the group introduced not too long ago.
The outreach and enforcement marketing campaign was carried out Aug. 22-28 and comprised 52 jurisdictions – together with 50 in america and Canada – in accordance with CVSA. The occasion involved each introduced and unannounced brake system inspections.
A separate knowledge question from collaborating jurisdictions reported 5,667 brake hose chafing violations.
“Properly functioning brakes may mean the difference between a catastrophic collision or the ability to avoid a crash,” CVSA President John Broers stated in a press launch.
Scheduled throughout Brake Security Consciousness Month, the occasion is a component of CVSA’s Operation Airbrake marketing campaign – carried out in partnership with the Federal Motor Service Security Administration, the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Directors, and Mexico’s National Guard and Ministry of Communications and Transportation.
