Geneva — Delegates of the International Labor Organization recently adopted a resolution that adds “a safe and healthy working environment” to the United Nations agency’s framework on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. At least three persons have been severely injured after a gas explosion incident at the Kumasi Shoe Factory in Atonsu Agogo on Friday, June 17. The incident which happened around 11:00am also left two cars burnt. The gas tanker is reported to have been discharging fuel into the company’s cylinder when it caught fire. This caused panic among many workers who rushed out to ascertain what was happening, resulting in the injury of the three victims. Fire has gutted portions of the Kumasi Shoe factory at Atonsu in the Ashanti Region following a gas explosion on Friday, June 17, 2022. The fire reportedly started during a process to transfer gas into a cylinder at the company. A Criminologist at the Department of Sociology and Social Work, KNUST, wants a quasi-judicial body to investigate police infractions at the Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi. A “reckless” and dangerous driver who killed his brother and a friend in a crash has been jailed for six years. Jordon White, 20, made a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre at speed in his black Vauxhall Corsa while there were four other people inside. A policeman from the Tesano police station in Accra has been involved in an accident after he was given a hot chase by some uniformed men. A woman may be in for a $5.2m (£4.2m) payout after she allegedly contracted a sexually transmitted infection while having sex in a car. The US woman, identified in court files as ‘MO’, said she caught the human papillomavirus (HPV) from having sex with her then-partner in his car.
