A mild gridlock is being experienced on the Accra-Tema Motorway this afternoon. An articulated truck carrying bags of flour is currently stuck on the road after an accident occurred on Tuesday. The long vehicle has parts of its cab badly mangled and hanging downwards from the dump body. Part of the stretch is covered with kilograms of flour with bystanders helping to sweep the product off the road to allow for free flow of traffic. It is unclear what caused the accident. Three children have been injured with many others rendered homeless after a rainstorm hit Kalba in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region. The injured, who are below ten (10) years of age, were rushed to the Kalba Health Centre and have been treated and discharged. The Wa Magistrate Court has remanded into police custody, Abdul Rahman Yunusah, a former team manager of the Wa All-Stars Football Club, who allegedly shot and killed a former lecturer of the Dr Hilla Limann Technical University and wounded four others. The Savannah Regional Police have reported that two lives have been lost due to chieftaincy clashes at Jatong. Hawa Zacharia, 53, and Seidu Abdulai, 40, are said to have met their untimely death after being hit with stray bullets on Wednesday, March 15. The Foreign Affairs Ministry says the government has successfully repatriated a total of 226 Ghanaians from Ukraine as of Friday, March 18. A statement issued by the Ministry said the evacuation process for these nationals was funded by the government, with support from its honorary consuls and the Mental Health Authority which offered psycho-social services to “our distressed compatriots.” These persons were rescued through neighbouring countries by land due to the shutdown of Ukraine’s airspace since the beginning of the unrest in the country.
