The Medical Director at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital Prof Akwasi Osei has raised concern over the shortfall of health personnel in the mental health sector. He said Ghana with a population of 31 million has only 51 Psychiatrists instead of the required 150. At least one person has been killed after a police officer drove into bystanders at Atico junction near Kaneshie. The police man who was driving a Toyota Vitz taxi, is said to have been pursuing an errant trotro driver when he tripped over a mound and veered onto the pavement, ramming into the people. The Tema Region of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), which comprises 13 fire stations, recorded a total of 584 fire incidents between January 1, 2021 and December 30, 2021. Of the number, 198 were attributed to domestic fires compared to the 180 domestics fires recorded in the region in 2020.
