The Medical Director at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital Prof Akwasi Osei has raised concern over the shortfall of health personnel in the mental health sector. He said Ghana with a population of 31 million has only 51 Psychiatrists instead of the required 150. The Tema Region of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), which comprises 13 fire stations, recorded a total of 584 fire incidents between January 1, 2021 and December 30, 2021. Of the number, 198 were attributed to domestic fires compared to the 180 domestics fires recorded in the region in 2020. The data from the GNFS showed that domestic fire incidents from January to December 2021 were the highest in the Tema Region. Police in Kpeve in the Volta Region, have arrested Yao Papa Domie, 31, of Vume Village, over the suspected murder of a fellow hunter. The incident allegedly occurred when they went on a hunting expedition, on Thursday, January 6, 2022. A family of six have perished in a gory road accident on the Kumasi-Bibiani road after their Honda Civic vehicle burst its offside tyre and plunged into a stream on January 8, 2021. At least 12 people have died in a car crash involving a Metro Mass bus and a Sprinter bus at Sefwi Anhwiaso in the Bibiani Anhwaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.
